Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Hepworth Wakefield Gallery

Rabbit Sculptures

Object Trees

Shell Cave
While at the sculpture park we found ourselves moving into the older and more permanent collection of sculptures on the grounds. One of the permanent sculptures was the Shell cave, even though a lot of the shells had gone, the work put into the cave was still noticeable, I particularly liked the fact words had been carved into some of the shells.

Metal Hay Bails

I found this on one of the smaller sculptures, I love the extra personality that has been given to this piece because of it.

Hepworth's objects for inspiration

Before I went to the Hepworth Gallery I considered Barbara Hepworth work to be a bit over rated and that her forms where something anyone could have done with very little thought. Whilst there it is incredible to see the amount of effort put into each piece and the consideration taken over each form and how it stands within a space, now I understand why people have a fascination with her work.

This small model for a sculpture looks as if it could be the starting design for the finished sculpture found in Chesterfield.
